Is Your Pool Summer Ready?

Summer is quickly approaching and that means one thing: time to get your swimmers and beach towels out. Millions of Australians are lucky enough to have access to a pool that they or their friends own, and it is common for pool parties to start breaking out when the thermostat starts regularly hitting twenty degrees. There is just one problem, many pools are still in a state of disuse due to winter. Luckily, that can be easily fixed with a few pieces of pool maintenance equipment and a bit of elbow grease. Here are three common pieces of swimming pool maintenance equipment people forget to stock up on that you might need.

Test Kit

The only way to know for sure whether or not your pool is actually safe for human use is to test it. There are many pool testing kits out there but often when you run out of them it is easy to just forgo this procedure at the start of summer. That should not be the case because it is quite easy for there to be dangerously low levels of chlorine to the point where disease and bacteria could be starting to fester. If you do not have a few test kits up your sleeve you should go and get them now.

Pool Vacuum Head

Often the first piece of equipment to fail or begin acting differently is your pool vacuum head. The vacuum itself might work just fine, but a seal or roller on your vacuum head could be preventing you from using it adequately. Do not throw it out too soon, instead simply remove the vacuum head and find a replacement. Often these replacements are significantly cheaper than buying an entirely new vacuum and it can be less than the price of a gourmet burger so don't let this problem stop you from cleaning your pool properly!

Chlorine Dispenser

Chlorine is vital for any pool, as mentioned above, and yet it can be a bit of a pain to remember to constantly put in your pool. A chlorine dispenser is a great way to make sure you don't have to always check the date or time and then rush out to put chlorine in the pool. Simply fill the dispenser and you have to refill it much less frequently than you would have to put in chlorine by yourself while getting the perfect dose every single time.
